The great secret possessed by the great men of all ages was their ability to contact and release the powers of their subconscious mind. You can do the same.
– Dr. Joseph Murphy
This has become one of the most common ideas when it comes to beliefs and people’s acceptance of reality. But the truth of it is more than even the people that agree with the statement actually know. Everything in your life is influenced by an unconscious acceptance of reality that happens before you may even know it.
Although this doesn’t always cause major problems in the lives of most people, it can actually cause some major problems and hamper your ability to be able to achieve what you want to achieve in your life. In order to be able to achieve what you want, you have to be aware of your unconscious beliefs and make changes to them.
Although this may seem like something that is completely impossible to do, it is not at all. You can actually effectively make changes to your unconscious beliefs in order to make your life better and stop them from stopping you.
Where they come from
Unconscious beliefs are something that you don’t even realize you believe, but they have a huge impact on your actions. These beliefs have many origins, and it is often hard to pin point one single source of the formation of a belief.
People have a huge impact on your beliefs. Your parents and other relatives have an impact on the unconscious beliefs that you form throughout your life. Your friends may have an impact on these as well, especially during your adolescent years.
In addition to environment, your experiences may have a huge impact on your beliefs. For example, if you have a particularly traumatic experience, you may be afraid to enter yourself into a situation where that could possibly happen again because of a belief that it will happen. This is very common.
These are only two things that can impact your unconscious beliefs. There are so many more, and literally everything in your life is a possible source of this influence on you. Things that happen in your life and the way you live it affect your unconscious beliefs about everything around you. These can have more of an effect on you than you may actually be aware of, as you will learn.
Effects of unconscious beliefs
It may come as a surprise to learn that your unconscious beliefs exist and are acting on you all the time. They control you like invisible strings as if you were a puppet. You are driven to do and say everything you do in your life by your unconscious beliefs.
This may be a good thing if your beliefs are habitually positive and you have confidence in yourself and an open mind. These beliefs can actually help you do great things and if they come as a habit to you without you even being aware of them, then your mind will be working for you and not against you.
There is a problem, though. This is often not at all the case. In fact, the opposite is commonly the case. Your unconscious beliefs can actually cause you to make choices that go against what you want to achieve in your life or prevent you from being able to achieve these things.
The common thought about your unconscious beliefs is that if they are not something you are aware of, they are obviously not something you can control. But the actuality of the situation is much different than this. You can make yourself aware of them and work to change them. This is not even that hard of a thing to do.
The second thing you should do if you want to change your unconscious beliefs is become aware of them. This is not something that you can just do, though. You have to force yourself to be completely honest about all of your views on the world, and sometimes you may not be able to do it then. Deep thinking is necessary here.
The first thing you should do is look at the reason you want to change any unconscious beliefs in the first place. Are you unhappy with a situation in your life? If you have something going on in an area of your life, such as a relationship or a job, that you don’t like but have never done anything to change, this is what you need to address.
Look at this and think about the reason that you have never done anything about it. If you come to a conclusion, this revelation is a process of coming to self-awareness. You have to be self-aware in order to see the unconscious beliefs that you have been harboring that have prevented you from doing what you want to do with your life.
When you are considering the reason, you may not come to it right away. Keep thinking about it. Sometimes, writing it all down or talking to someone else can help you realize your belief that is holding you back.
When you have an awareness of the unconscious belief that you have that has been holding you back, then you can begin to alter it so that it will no longer prevent you from achieving what you want in your life.
You may only be able to become somewhat aware of what unconscious beliefs that are holding you back, but this may be awareness enough. As long as you are aware of these the best that you can be, you may be able to make changes to them.
How to Change It
The next thing you need to do after you become aware of the unconscious beliefs as best you can is to alter them in order to make your mind work for you instead of against you. This can be a lot of work, but contrary to beliefs, it is actually a very possible thing to do.
The first thing you have to do is make the beliefs into a single thought. For example, if you have a belief that you are unable to do something, so you have never tried, the concrete single thought that you have is “I don’t believe I can do it.”
The next thing you have to do is take this thought and reverse it. Change it and re-word it to make a positive statement. For the example above, all you have to do is change it to “I can do it.” This is a positive statement that you will then have to integrate into your beliefs.
In order to integrate this thought into your beliefs, you have to make it more prevalent than the negative thought. So, you have to repeat it. Repetition is the way that you can most easily change your mind about things.
Saying something to yourself over and over will make you believe it, no matter what it is. Although it is much harder to do with a positive thought than a negative one, you will be able to teach yourself to think a different way if you are repeating a thought to yourself enough.
Whenever you think of the particular thing that you want to do but don’t really believe that you can, you should instantly force yourself to think about it a different way. Remember your positive statement and repeat it to yourself every time the topic crosses your mind.
You can even write the thought in places so that you will see it often and read it. Putting it on your mirror, your computer, your refrigerator or even the background of your phone is always a good idea. This way, you will see it often and read it to yourself.
When you are trying to change your unconscious beliefs, you are actually re-teaching your mind to do things that it has taught itself not to do. This process may take a very long time, but it is well worth it. You will be able to experience the great effects of changing your unconscious beliefs if you are able to change them.
Effects of the change
When you effectively change your unconscious beliefs, you will no longer be held back. This is not an easy process, but it is well worth it when your mind begins to work for you instead of working against you.
When you change your unconscious beliefs, you will be able to believe that you can do what you want to do in your life.
If you are able to change your own mind and alter your unconscious beliefs, then you will be able to change outcomes in your life.
You may even be able to do things with your life that you never believed to be possible if you change your unconscious beliefs because you have an open mind and will be able to approach all different situations with this open mind. You could even surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
Unconscious beliefs are not something that people commonly think can be altered for the better, but they actually can. They are not as static as would be assumed due to their identity. If you have unconscious beliefs, you can actually change them on your own so that they work for you and stop working against you.
All you have to do when you want to alter your unconscious beliefs is make yourself at least remotely aware of them and get a concrete thought from them. Then, you have to reteach your mind to replace the current, negative thought with a positive one that will help you achieve what you want to achieve.
Changing your unconscious beliefs is not an easy thing to do at all. Your new, open mind will be well worth it, though. You will appreciate all of the effort you put into making your mind work for you when you are able to do what you wanted with your life and possibly even more.
